The flagship AquaVoxel system — engineered for load, flow, and expansion, not assembled from whatever fit in a mold.
An open-lattice frag rack engineered for load, flow, and expansion — not assembled from whatever fit in a mold. Every tile, plug, and connector is dimensioned against the last, so the system scales without compromise.
All five stock finishes ship the same week. Want a color of your own? We'll make your rack in any color you like, in reef-safe PETG. Because a custom color means sourcing a spool just for your order, custom orders carry a small setup fee and a small minimum order. Send a hex code, Pantone, or a link to a specific PETG filament and we'll confirm it's available from a brand we trust — then sourced, made and shipped, typically within 7–10 days.

AquaVoxel against eggcrate or DIY racks and flat acrylic or standard 3D-printed racks. Read the full breakdown →
| Feature | Eggcrate / DIY | Flat acrylic / standard prints | AquaVoxel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frag security | Loose fit; plugs tip over. | Most rely on gravity; snails and strong flow can knock frags loose. | Zero-drop 90° twist-lock. |
| Water flow | Grid traps hair algae and detritus. | Solid slab blocks flow and creates dead zones. | Open hexagonal framework water passes through. |
| Substrate impact | PVC or acrylic legs cover sand patches. | Rests flat on the sand, trapping detritus underneath. | Pointed legs sink through sand or gravel to the glass, so plates stay level. |
| Magnet safety | No mounting option. | Quality varies; coated magnets can crack and rust over time. | N52 magnets fully sealed in watertight PETG. |
| Scalability | Cut new pieces; flimsy support. | Mostly fixed sizes that don’t link together. | Same-size plates link at every corner, from a Nano8 array to an 8 ft raceway. |
| Plug fit | Only whatever hole size you cut. | Fixed holes; tight fits can snap fragile coral bases. | Takes standard 3/8-inch plugs; AquaVoxel plugs clip down to fit standard racks. |
| Corners & tiers | Cut and stack pieces by hand. | Usually one flat level; tank corners left empty. | Corner plates for every size, and Double F tiers with no rack over the tier below. |
Six plates on four footprints, each sized to its plugs: the Nano8 holds eight 19.05mm plugs and the Std8 eight 25.4mm; the LG6 holds six 38.1mm and the LG14 fourteen 25.4mm on the same footprint; the XL10 holds ten 38.1mm and the XL26 twenty-six 25.4mm on the largest footprint. The leg bosses are the one thing every plate has in common, so the same legs fit every size. The XL plates carry a deeper six-disc ballast pocket to keep their larger footprint firmly on the bottom.
Plates join their own size. Link Nano8 plates into an endless Nano array, or Std8 to Std8. The LG and XL each come in two versions on one footprint, so you can mix them in one rack: set LG6 and LG14 side by side, or XL10 and XL26, and hold 38.1mm and 25.4mm plugs in a single array. Std, LG and XL plates all use the same connectors; the Nano8 has its own. Every size also has a matching corner plate.
No proprietary fasteners and no single-use pieces. Universal legs fit every plate size. Plugs and connectors come in two families: one for the Std, LG and XL plates, and a dedicated set for the Nano8. Every part comes in every finish.
01 — FRAG PLUGS
19.05mm for the Nano8, 25.4mm for the Std8, LG14 and XL26, and 38.1mm for the LG6 and XL10. Each has a fluted grip band and twists into its socket to lock, then twists and lifts out when a frag is ready to move. Plastic plugs are usually light enough for strong flow to knock loose; the lock means weight no longer matters. PETG also won’t chip or shed grit like low-grade ceramic. The 19.05mm plug fits Nano8 plates only. The textured top gives coral tissue something to grip and encrust onto, and it holds epoxy or glue without a pretreat step. Corals draw their calcium from your water, not the plug, so the texture is what counts. No AquaVoxel rack? Clip off the two locking ears and the plug fits any standard frag rack.
02 — LEGS
Pointed legs with a 6mm pin that press-fit into the leg bosses. The point pushes down through sand or gravel instead of riding on top, so the plate stays level. The bosses are identical on every plate, Nano8 through XL26, so one set of legs serves the whole system. Mix lengths to level a plate across sand, rubble or rockwork, with no glue and no tools.
03 — CONNECTORS
A 2-way connector joins two plates edge to edge; a 4-way connector locks four plates at a shared corner. Posts drop into the leg bosses from below, and a matching connector leg (20, 30 or 40mm) plugs into the connector. Connector legs run 5mm shorter than the universal legs, so a joined corner stands level with a 25, 35 or 45mm leg. Full-size and Nano connectors are sized to their own plate families, and plates join plates of their own footprint.
04 — PIN PUNCH
A small punch sized to the leg bosses, with a wide 18mm pad your fingertip can press on. One pushes out a leg. To take a plate off a rack, set one on the connector post at each end of the seam and press both at once, so the plate comes away level without stressing either post. Every kit includes two.
05 — SHIPPING FLOATS
A 25mm foam float with a keyway cut through it to match the plug stem. Push a 25.4 or 38.1mm plug in and give it a quarter turn to lock. In a water-filled bag the float rides at the top and the coral hangs below it, so the frag stays submerged however the box lands and never hits the bottom of the bag. At the other end, twist the float off and the plug goes straight into a rack. Packs of 20, for frag sellers and swaps.
06 — CORNER PLATES
Sold as a corner kit with its plugs and a 3-way connector. Nano8, Std8, LG6, LG14, XL10 and XL26 corners each match the short end of their plates, so a rack runs along two walls without a gap. See how corners go together →
07 — 3-WAY CONNECTOR
One connector joins the corner plate and the plates on both sides where their corners meet, with a single connector leg right under the junction. Full size for Std, LG and XL plates, plus a Nano version for the Nano8. Packs of 4.
08 — DOUBLE F TIER BRACKETS
Each bracket grips the edge of one plate and holds the next 20mm higher and off to the side, using the same groove as our magnetic mounts. Two per tier, up to three tiers. Fits Std8, LG and XL plates. Packs of 4. See tiering →
09 — TIER LEGS
Longer legs, 50 to 85mm in 5mm steps, for tiered racks standing on the sand bed. Same pointed design and the same pin as every AquaVoxel leg. Packs of 16.
Connectors lock adjoining AquaVoxel plates together through their leg bosses, so a rack grows one plate at a time, in any finish, without disturbing plates already seeded and settled.
Every plate size has a matching square corner plate. It sits in the corner of the tank, a plate butts against each of its inside edges, and one 3-way connector locks all three together where their corners meet. The rack runs along two walls as one rigid piece, on legs or on magnetic mounts.
A Double F bracket slides onto the edge of one plate and holds the next plate 20mm higher, set off to the side. No AquaVoxel rack sits over the tier below it, so every frag gets full light, lower corals have room to grow, and detritus from above falls past the tier below instead of onto it. Use two brackets per tier, up to three tiers, on Std8, LG and XL plates.
Every AquaVoxel plate locks to its neighbors at the corners, so a whole tank becomes one rigid, level rack with an even grid of plugs from wall to wall. Add plates as the farm grows without moving a single frag that’s already settled.
Plugs lock with a quarter turn and come out with a twist and a lift. No glue in the socket, no prying, no knocking the frag next door. Staff can pull a sold frag in seconds and leave its neighbors untouched.
A 304 stainless disc stack is sealed inside every plate, so racks sink and hold position without rock, zip ties or suction cups, and no metal ever touches your water. The XL10 and XL26 carry a deeper six-disc pocket for their larger footprint.
4-way and 2-way connectors join plates through their leg bosses, so the array can’t drift apart or shift in strong flow. Expand at any edge, one plate at a time.
The LG14 holds fourteen 25.4mm plugs on a 166.3 × 90.1mm plate, about 930 plugs per square meter of rack and nearly 40% more than the Std8. The XL26 goes further, at about 965 per square meter. LG6 and LG14 share a footprint, so both can run in the same grid, and so can XL10 and XL26.
Universal legs (25, 35, 45mm), connector legs (20, 30, 40mm) and tier legs up to 85mm level a rack over sand, gravel, rubble or bare glass; the pointed tips sink in instead of riding on top. Longer legs are available by custom order for deep sand bed (DSB) systems. The open lattice lets flow and light reach every frag and lets detritus fall through.
Five reef-safe PETG finishes let you assign colors by species, grower, price tier or sale status. Custom colors are available for larger orders.
Sell frags on AquaVoxel plugs with confidence. If a customer doesn’t own an AquaVoxel rack, they simply clip off the plug’s locking ears and it fits any standard frag rack.
C plates long and R plates wide: (C−1)×(R−1) four-way connectors, 2(C−1)+2(R−1) two-way connectors, one connector leg per connector, and 4 universal legs at the outside corners.Tank sizes are typical inside dimensions. Each layout leaves clearance along the glass for flow and hands.
A high-count grow-out tank for 25.4mm frags, with room along every wall for flow and hands.
Maximum density: the LG14 fits 14 plugs on each plate, nearly a thousand frags in one tank.
A full production run in a single raceway, locked together as one level rack.
Grow-out for large frags and mini colonies: ten 38.1mm plugs per plate, with room between every plug.
A pair of magnetic mounts holds a plate against the tank wall, so frags can sit high in the light without legs or rockwork.
